IF THERE WERE only one Great Goddess, it would be Isis.
She is called Supreme Divinity, Great One Who Initiated Existence, and First Among the Goddesses. She is the Great of Magic and the Beautiful Mourner. She is The One Who is Called Goddess by Women and Great Divine Mother. She is Goddess of the Sun, the Moon, the Stars. And She is more.
To the Egyptians, She was Iset. To the Greeks and the Romans, She was Isis of the Ten Thousand Names. Her remarkable ability to reveal the attributes of an enormous range of local and national Goddesses and Gods, as well as the humanity and pathos of Her most well-known myth, has made Isis one of the most well-loved Goddesses of all time. Not confined to a single aspect of life, Isis holds sway over them all. At the zenith of Her worship, devotees and temples of Isis could be found from Egypt to Germany and from India to England. It is reasonably well-established among scholars that Isis and Her Divine Child, Horus, were prototypes for Mary and Her Divine Child, Jesus, in Catholic Christianity.
Today, Isis is still known to hundreds of thousands throughout the world, whether as a heroine of myth or as a Living Goddess. Her temples once again stretch across the globe and Her devotees honor Her many different aspects in many different ways.
Isis was, and is, and ever shall be, Goddess.
This site is for those who seek the Goddess today and particularly for those who seek Her in Her name of Isis. Welcome.
In part, the site supports my book Isis Magic from Llewellyn Publications. If you’d like to know more about it, just click on the button above. But mainly, the site is intended to serve as a resource for those who love Isis. It is also a devotional offering to the Goddess. As the site grows, I’ll be putting up information that didn’t find a place in the book but that I still find interesting. Hopefully, you will, too. (For instance, check out the Horus and Set story under “Articles.”) I’ll be working on an FAQ based on your questions, so please feel free to email questions you’d like to see answered. I also hope that this will be a place where we can share our experiences of the Living Isis. If you’d like to do so, just send me an email and I’ll post your contributions on a regular basis. We’ll see what happens. And if you’d like to answer the Isis Questionnaire, I would love to hear from you. You can be anonymous or not and I’ll post results as they accrue.
May Isis Bless You and Keep You Beneath the Shadow of Her Sheltering Wings,
Isidora
